Tot voor kort was het ICC met name een postbusnummer in Den Haag. Per 11 maart van dit jaar echter zijn 18 rechters, de griffier en de openbare aanklager in de Ridderzaal in Den Haag officieel beëdigd. In principe kunnen vanaf nu zaken aangebracht worden.
With the Security Council ending up in paralysis, war seemed to be inevitable. Is there no way to peace other than waiting on the bloody defeat of the Iraqi people? I think there remains one extremely important alternative that could just pave the way to peace, although hardly anyone appears to be thinking about it:
Is er dan écht niets meer te doen aan, wat op CNN triomfantelijk wordt geduid als "military history unfolding in the desert"? Wat rest er nog om de oorlog te stoppen? Als democratisch gekozen regeringen zich al niet gehouden weten aan "de wil van het volk", laat staan een VN mandaat, wat is het VN Handvest nog waard?
